Key Points
In week 44 (October 31–November 6, 2022), emergency department visits and hospitalizations were stable or declining across all age groups.
Among children under 2 years of age, the increase in visits and hospitalizations for bronchiolitis and pneumonia continued, though at a less pronounced rate than in previous weeks (+6%, or +428 and +29 visits, respectively), but with visit and post-visit hospitalization rates that remain higher than those observed in previous years. Also noteworthy is the increase in visits for abdominal pain (+10%, or +51 visits).
Among adults, the increase in visits for conjunctivitis continues (+13%, or +102 visits) at levels higher than those observed in the previous two years. Also noteworthy is the increase in visits for bronchitis (+10%, or +143 visits).
Visits for suspected COVID-19 continue to decline across all age groups (-23%, or -887 visits across all ages).
