Key Points

• In Week 31 (July 29–August 4, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained slightly lower for children under 2 years of age (-6%, or -279 visits) and increased for adults aged 75 and older (+4%, or +236 visits) compared to the previous week.

• Among the indicators showing changes this week, the following stand out:

  • amid a heat wave, across all age groups, an increase in heatstroke cases (+168%, or +197 cases), an increase in insect bite cases (+8%, or +107 cases), as well as an increase in medical cases for dehydration (+82%, or +55 cases).

  • Among children under 15, an increase in cases of allergies (+17%, or +70 cases)

  • a continued decline in cases of COVID-19 across all age groups (-35%, or -485 cases).

• While procedures for whooping cough were still on the rise in week 30, they decreased across all age groups in week 31 (-14%, or -68 procedures). These procedures remain at levels significantly higher than in previous years.

• Among other indicators, there was an increase in cases of isolated fever among those aged 75 and older (+42%, or +28 cases), trauma among adults aged 15–74 (+8%, or +173 cases), and conjunctivitis among adults aged 75 and older (+83%, or +19 cases).
