Key Points

  • In week 50 (December 9–15, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among people aged 75 and older (5.8%, or +324 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

  • Regarding respiratory indicators, cases of influenza/flu-like illness continued to rise across all age groups (+38%, or +2,861 cases). Among adults, there was also an increase in cases of acute bronchitis (+11%, or 390 more cases), pneumonia (+16%, or 156 more cases), and cough (+12%, or 995 more cases). Among people aged 75 and older, the number of medical procedures is also rising for upper respiratory tract conditions (+11%, or +41 procedures) and asthma attacks (+22%, or +14 procedures). Among children under 2 years of age, the number of medical procedures for bronchiolitis is stabilizing (+2%, or +13 procedures).

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in procedures:

    • Among 2- to 14-year-olds for isolated fever (+11%, or +45 visits) and for viral syndrome (+18%, or +120 visits);

    • Among children, in very small numbers, for anxiety (35 cases in S50 vs. 20 cases in S49, or +15 cases);

    • Among those aged 75 and older for trauma (+15%, or +40 cases).
