Summary
In Week 52 (December 23–29), total activity increased by 11.6% among adults (i.e., +6,464 procedures) and by 6.3% among children under 2 years of age (i.e., +511 procedures).
Over the past week, the following stand out
:- a very sharp increase in visits for gastrointestinal conditions among adults: gastroenteritis (+100%, or +5,151 visits), vomiting (+70%, or +390 visits), diarrhea (+75%, or +400 visits), digestive disorders (+27%, or +314 cases).
The share of activity for these indicators in total coded activity is twice that of the previous week, reaching 17.3% for gastroenteritis (vs. 9.7% in Week 51), 1.6% for vomiting (vs. 1% in week 51), and 0.3% for diarrhea (vs. 0.16% in week 51). It is also significantly higher than in the two previous years. This increase was observed primarily starting on December 26 and affected all regions.
- an increase in visits for respiratory conditions:
o influenza/flu-like illness in adults (+18%, or +352 visits), bronchitis (+10%, or +344 visits), pneumonia (+45%, or +293 visits), asthma attacks (+19%, or +135 cases), and to a lesser extent ENT conditions (+6%, or +688 cases). Six regions are in the pre-epidemic phase for influenza: Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Brittany, Île-de-France, Occitanie, Pays de la Loire, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
o Bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age (+18%, or +352 visits). All metropolitan regions and the Antilles (except St. Barthélemy) remain in the epidemic phase.
- An increase in visits for isolated fever in adults (+30%), malaise in those aged 75 and older (+51%), and for allergies in children under 2 years of age (+28%).
