Summary
In Week 23 (June 1–7, 2020), the fourth week of the easing of lockdown restrictions, total SOS Médecins activity increased among children (+5%, or +473 cases) and adults (+8%, or +3,242 cases).
Over the past week, there were 1,456 cases involving suspected COVID-19, representing an 11% decrease across all age groups compared to the previous week (1,627 cases in Week 22). Their share of total activity has decreased and now stands at 2.8% (vs. 3.3% in Week 22). By region, Île-de-France (17%), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (13%), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (12%), and Grand-Est (11%) recorded the highest number of tests for suspected COVID-19.
Since the start of surveillance, 56,101 procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other conditions, there has been an increase in seasonal indicators, particularly for ENT conditions (+9%, or +393 cases) and asthma (+51%, or +204 cases, including +109 among adults; this increase is driven by a peak in asthma on June 4, linked to a phenomenon of “thunderstorm asthma” associated with thunderstorms that occurred on the evening of Wednesday, June 3).
After a sharp increase in recent weeks, procedures for allergies are down by 22% across all age groups (a decrease of 709 procedures).
There is also an increase in procedures for:
gastroenteritis across all age groups (+21%, or +358 cases) and other gastrointestinal conditions among adults aged 15–64 (+14%, or +143 cases);
isolated fever and cough in children and adults (+16% and +15% across all age groups, respectively);
anxiety among adults (+13%, or +176 cases) and stroke among adults aged 15–64: 38 cases in S23 compared to 26 in S22).
