Summary
In Week 08 (February 22–28, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children (-10%, or 2,335 fewer visits) and remained stable among adults (-0.4%).
In Week 08, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued to decline for the third consecutive week, with 2,537 procedures recorded (vs. 2,635 in Week 07; a decrease of 4%) and a share of total activity across all age groups remaining stable at 3.8%. These procedures are down among 2- to 14-year-olds (-17%, or -53 procedures) and 15- to 74-year-olds (-4%, or -80 procedures), stable among children under 2, and up among those aged 75 and older (+18%, or +26 procedures). Suspected COVID-19 is the fourth most common diagnosis among those aged 15–74. At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are up in Pays-de-la-Loire (+17%, or +22 procedures), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+8%, or 22 procedures), and Occitanie (+11%, or 12 procedures). They are stable or declining in the other regions. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 185,400 procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
After several weeks of increases, seasonal respiratory and digestive conditions are mostly stable or declining across all age groups. However, there has been a rise in cases, albeit moderate in scale, for asthma (+25%, or +60 cases) among those aged 15–74 and conjunctivitis (+26%, or +48 cases) among those aged 15 and older.
Finally, among the most common conditions, there was an increase in consultations for anxiety among those aged 15 and older (+10%, or +117 consultations) and for trauma across all age groups (a more pronounced increase among those under 15: +13% vs. +4% among those aged 15 and older).
