Summary

In Week 12 (March 16–22, 2020), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined across all age groups (by 36%, or 8,968 procedures, among children, and by 17%, or 10,156 procedures, among adults).

Among non-specific and seasonal indicators, despite the sharp decline in overall activity, there was an increase in the share of activity for the following medical procedures:

  • isolated fever in adults (+17% share of activity), particularly among those aged 75 and older (number of procedures up 20%)

  • asthma and allergies in children (activity shares up 11% and 45%, respectively)

  • pneumonia in children, showing a slight increase (0.8% in S12 vs. 0.6% in S11)

Among the list of the 10 most common conditions, the “suspected coronavirus” indicator (the second most common condition) has risen sharply (+294% across all age groups). Among adults, procedures for anxiety (the 5th most common condition) are up by 54% (+579 procedures). Also notable is the increase in procedures for various pulmonary conditions among those aged 15–74 (+30%, or +261 procedures) and deaths among those aged 75 and older (+8.4%).
