SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 6, 2023
Key Points
In Week 9 (February 27–March 6, 2023), the fourth week of school vacation (Zone C), SOS Médecins activity remained stable across all age groups except for children under 2 and those aged 75 and older, who saw a slight decline (down 7% and 6%, respectively, or 454 and 353 visits).
Among children aged 2 to 14, there were some increases linked to the resumption of school activities in two of the three zones, particularly for:
gastrointestinal conditions: gastroenteritis (+15%, or +271 cases), acute abdominal pain (+34%, or +116 cases);
trauma: +17%, or +67 cases;
respiratory conditions: suspected COVID-19 (+63%, or +20 cases), pneumonia exclusively in children under 2 years of age (+53%, or +9 cases);
medical procedures for anxiety in children under 15 (+29%, or +6 procedures), for the second consecutive week;
medical procedures for scarlet fever (+49%, or +79 procedures), which remain at higher levels than in previous years.
