General Summary
In Week 37 (September 7–13, 2026), the second week of the new school year, activity at emergency departments within the OSCOUR® network and SOS Médecins associations increased among children and remained stable among adults.
Seekings of care for ENT or respiratory conditions (asthma, shortness of breath, bronchitis, flu/flu-like illness, suspected COVID-19) were on the rise, primarily among children, as were digestive symptoms (abdominal pain, vomiting, gastroenteritis). There was also an increase in emergency room visits for trauma and fainting episodes among children. These indicators were at levels comparable to or lower than in previous years, with the exception of influenza/flu-like illness in emergency rooms—which was very slightly higher than the values typically observed during this period—and SOS Médecins interventions for trauma.
The number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE remained within the usual range of fluctuation in S36-2026 across all age groups, both nationally and regionally.
