Smoking: Behavioral effectiveness of “Smoke-Free Month 2023.” Santé publique France Barometer: Results of the 2024 edition
Awareness of “Smoke-Free Month 2023” stands at 86.1% among daily smokers and former daily smokers in mainland France who quit smoking less than a year ago. Among daily smokers at the launch of Tobacco-Free Month 2023, 28.1% report having tried to quit smoking for at least 24 hours in the last quarter. This represents 2.5 million smokers. 2.6% of daily smokers at the launch of Tobacco-Free Month 2023 reported having tried to quit smoking in connection with the campaign, representing approximately 220,000 quit attempts directly attributable to Tobacco-Free Month 2023. The rate of quit attempts attributable to Smoke-Free Month 2023 does not vary significantly based on the sociodemographic characteristics studied.
