Climate Change: The Impact of Extreme Weather Events on Health. Santé publique France Barometer: Results of the 2024 Edition
78.8% of adults report having experienced at least one extreme weather event (flood, storm, heat wave, wildfire, drought) in the past two years. Among them, 37.2% report having suffered physically, and 22.5% psychologically. Women and people in difficult financial situations are more likely to report physical or psychological distress following an extreme weather event. There are significant regional disparities; the proportion of adults reporting having suffered physically or psychologically from an extreme weather event in the past two years ranges from 25.5% in Réunion to 51.3% in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. More than 70% of adults believe they will face an extreme event in the next two years, and among them, more than 70% believe they will suffer as a result.
