The Surge in Scooter Accidents in France (2000–2001)

Although they never really went away, scooters have made a strong comeback over the past two years. The resurgence in usage following the sales boom in 2000 has, unsurprisingly, been accompanied by an equally dramatic increase in accidents (or injuries). This article presents the epidemiology of scooter accidents that occurred between July 2000 and June 2001 and resulted in visits to the emergency departments of the six hospitals participating in the ongoing survey of everyday accidents (EPAC).
