Survival of Cancer Patients in Metropolitan France, 1989–2018 - Hypopharynx
In France, for the year 2018, the estimated number of new cases of hypopharyngeal cancer was 1,867 among men and 281 among women. Key points: 5-year age-standardized net survival of 26% for cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2015; Net survival at 1 and 5 years declines with increasing age at diagnosis; Since 1990, there has been a slight improvement in age-standardized net survival: an increase of only 6 and 5 percentage points at 1 and 5 years, respectively, with no improvement in 10-year survival; Excess mortality rates remain high 20 years after diagnosis.
