In Week 12, all indicators deteriorated across the entire mainland, with hospitals under severe strain in many regions.

  • A sharp increase in the number of new cases over the past three weeks

  • Increase in the number of patients hospitalized and in critical care units

  • Increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations among people aged 75 and older

  • COVID-19-related mortality remains high

  • Mainland France: marked increase in incidence across all regions

  • Overseas territories: rise in indicators in Martinique

Variants

  • Proportion of suspected variants of concern (VOC) identified by screening RT-PCR:

    • suspected cases of the 20I/501Y.V1 variant are the majority in mainland France at 79.9%

    • suspected cases of the 20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3 variants remain stable at 4.4%

Prevention

  • Vaccination

    • 8,284,391 people (12.3% vaccination coverage) in the general population who have received at least one dose

    • Among people under 65 with comorbidities: vaccination coverage of 23.1% (for at least one dose)

  • Importance of consistently following preventive measures and limiting contact, including for vaccinated individuals

  • If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test should be performed as soon as possible
