Health Monitoring in Brittany. Bulletin of May 29, 2026.

Key Points

Heat-related health issues

  • The seasonal monitoring system will be active from June 1 to September 15.
However, the four departments of Brittany have already been under an orange heat wave alert since May 26, which is very early in the season. Record temperatures are expected. We are seeing an increase in the monitored indicators in tandem with the rise in temperatures observed in late May.

Asthma

  • Moderate activity.

ENT conditions

  • Moderate activity related to ENT conditions. In S21, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 13% of emergency room visits and 48% of SOS Médecins consultations. The virology laboratories at the Rennes and Brest university hospitals detected rhinoviruses/enteroviruses in 21% (12/58) and 17% (19/114) of the samples tested, respectively.
