Heat Wave and Health in the Grand Est Region. Bulletin dated July 16, 2026.

Key Points

  • On July 9, 2026, a new heat wave began in the region: as of that date, Météo France placed two departments on orange alert (Aube and Haute-Marne), with the other eight departments on yellow alert. From July 10 to 14, all ten departments in the region were placed under an orange alert.
  • A regional analysis of emergency care utilization shows an increase in the composite health indicator iCanicule (which includes cases of hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia) between July 8 and 12 in emergency departments, and since July 12 for SOS Médecins. However, the values remain lower than those observed during the previous heat wave in late June. Trends in the monitored indicators vary by department.
