Key Points

COVID-19

  • SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater: Data for Week 16 are not available. In Week 15, an overall downward trend in the level of SARS-CoV-2 circulation in wastewater was observed. The intensity of viral circulation remained low.
  • At SOS Médecins and emergency departments: the number of suspected COVID-19 cases remained low and stable compared to the previous week.

Mortality 

  • The number of deaths observed in Week 14 was 1,342, lower than the expected number of deaths (n = 1,455, or -6.5%) in a region with a population of 12.4 million. People aged 65 and older accounted for 84.2% of the deaths.
  • This number was 1,267 in Week 15, also lower than the expected number of deaths (n = 1,437).
  • The number of electronically certified deaths was 984 in S14 and 986 in S15. People over 65 accounted for 84.1% of deaths in S14 and 82.5% of deaths in S15.
