- In 2025, indigenous cases of chikungunya and dengue were identified for the first time in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
- From May 1 to November 30, 2025, 18 episodes of local transmission were identified:
- 17 episodes of chikungunya transmission totaling 160 cases, including 1 episode with 103 cases in the municipality of Bergerac (Dordogne);
- 1 episode of dengue transmission totaling 3 cases.
Imported cases
- A record number of imported chikungunya cases was recorded in the region in 2025 (156 cases from May 1 to November 30) and numerous imported dengue cases (138 cases).
- Most people infected with the chikungunya virus had returned from a trip to Réunion or another island in the Indian Ocean, and most people infected with the dengue virus had returned from a trip to the French West Indies or French Polynesia.
