Transition Classes in Martinique: Children Develop Their Skills and Social Skills [Interview].

The bridge class aims to strengthen children’s psychosocial skills as well as parenting skills. The three staff members—a teacher, an educator, and a community worker—help each child develop their abilities. The children learn to communicate and become more sociable by interacting with their peers. It has been observed that reports of child welfare concerns have decreased in families whose children attended the bridge class. The program also offers parents support in their relationship with their child. However, the program remains vulnerable due to a lack of long-term funding.
