Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

During the first quarter of 2013, malaria activity decreased. The seasonal epidemic that began in St. Georges in early October has ended. A resurgence in the number of cases lasting 6 to 4 weeks was also observed in Camopi and Maripasoula, where conditions have since returned to normal. Of note is the presence of localized outbreaks of infection in the municipalities of Matoury, Macouria, and Régina.
