Epidemiological Situation of Chikungunya in the Caribbean. Update as of February 6, 2014.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
Circulation of the chikungunya virus remains widespread in Saint Martin, with a stabilization in the number of clinically suggestive cases observed. This community has been placed in phase 3b of the Psage*: widespread epidemic. In Saint-Barthélemy, the spread of the epidemic remains moderate. This territory remains in Phase 3a of the Psage* chikungunya system: Epidemic situation. In Martinique, the circulation of the virus is intensifying. The number of outpatient visits continues to rise, indicating the spread of the epidemic. Martinique remains in Phase 3a: Epidemic situation. In Guadeloupe, there is an increase in viral circulation; 18 municipalities are now affected. This department remains in Phase 2a of the Psage*: moderate local transmission. In French Guiana, no local transmission of the virus has been detected to date. French Guiana remains in the reinforced Phase 1 of the Psage*.
