COVID-19

• In week 49, SARS-CoV-2 transmission remains at a high level and is still rising in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The number of SOS Médecins calls, emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and reports to long-term care facilities is on the rise. Vaccination coverage against COVID-19 with a booster tailored to the Omicron variant is increasing but remains low at 11.7% among those aged 60–79 and 15.0% among those aged 80 and older.

Bronchiolitis

• 9th epidemic week

• In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the epidemic trend for bronchiolitis is decreasing in week 49 but remains very high.

• Oscour® Network: Emergency department visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age decreased in week S49.

• SOS Médecins: procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age are decreasing, with 70 procedures in week S49, representing 11.2% of the overall activity of SOS Médecins associations in this age group (vs. 14.5% in week S48).

Flu

• 2nd epidemic week.

• Oscour® Network: Emergency room visits across all age groups in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes for influenza/flu-like illness are rising sharply. In Week 49, 437 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (+121% compared to Week 48), representing 0.9% of all emergency department visits across all age groups (+0.5 percentage points compared to Week 48).

• SOS Médecins: The number of cases continues to rise in Week 49, with 894 cases of influenza/influenza-like illness recorded (vs. 645 cases in Week 48), representing 9.9% of total activity (vs. 7.4% in Week 47).

• Sentinelles Network: the incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice is high and rising, with the rate increasing from 148 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [110–186]) in W48 to 217 (95% CI [157–277]) in W49.
