Heat Wave and Health Alert System in Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. Update as of August 25, 2017.

Key points

One department under an orange heat wave alert and three departments under a yellow heat wave alert.

Heat-related medical cases across all age groups on August 24 accounted for 0.38% of all emergency department visits for all causes and all ages. This percentage was lower than that reported on a previous day of the week (when no heat wave alert was in effect). The majority of these visits were recorded in departments under a green alert.

For yesterday (August 24):

  • 14 emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses across the entire region; these visits primarily involved people over 75 years of age (50%) and adults over 45 years of age (29%). The majority of these emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses were followed by hospitalization (71%).

  • Only one SOS Médecins consultation for heat-related illnesses in an adult aged 45–74 was reported.
