Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • 6th week of the epidemic

  • Bronchiolitis-related activity has risen to 15.2% (vs. 14.3% in Week 1) of all emergency department visits. Activity remains at around 6% of SOS Médecins calls in Week 1. It is lower than in the two previous winters.

  • The rate of bronchiolitis hospitalizations among all coded hospitalizations increased this week (37% vs. 30% in Week 1).

Influenza

  • 5th epidemic week

  • Medical activity related to influenza care continued to rise in Week 1 of 2025 (the week of New Year’s Day), exceeding the peak recorded during the two previous seasons: 6.0% of influenza cases (vs. 5.4% in W1) among emergency department visits and 24.9% (vs. 21.8% in W1) among SOS Médecins calls.

Acute Respiratory Infections

  • Since September 30, 2024, 163 clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) have been reported. The number of new clusters was low between Week 42 (mid-October) and Week 48 (late November). The number of reports has been trending upward since then (data not yet consolidated for Week 1).

  • In total, 80 ARI outbreaks were attributed exclusively to COVID-19 and 38 outbreaks were attributed exclusively to influenza, 60% of which occurred in weeks 52 and S01. The number of influenza outbreaks has exceeded the number of COVID-19 outbreaks since week 50. Since Week 40, 8 episodes of COVID-19/influenza co-infection have been reported (including 3 in Week 51). Two episodes were attributed exclusively to RSV.

COVID-19

  • Low activity.

  • The SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to circulate at low levels in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as in other regions. The proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins and emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 remains low.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low to moderate activity.
