Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • 5th week of the epidemic

  • Activity remains at around 14% for emergency department visits. It remains lower than in the two previous winters. Activity remains at around 7% for SOS Médecins in weeks 51 and 52.

  • The rate of bronchiolitis hospitalizations among all coded hospitalizations remains around 30% for children under 2 years of age, as in Week 1.

  • RSV continues to circulate in the community (11% in S52 vs. 8.6% in S-1) and in hospitals (9.1% in S52 vs. 8.6% in S-1).

Influenza

  • 4th epidemic week

  • Activity among emergency department visits is rising sharply and exceeds the activity recorded during the same period in the two previous seasons: 5.3% influenza (vs. 2.6% in Week 1).

  • The increase is more moderate this week among SOS Médecins calls (21.8% vs. 20.6% in Week 1).

  • Increased viral circulation in the community (31.3% in Week 52 vs. 27.5% in Week 1) and in hospitals (19.5% in Week 52 vs. 12.3% in Week 1).

Acute Respiratory Infections

  • Since September 30, 2024, 126 clusters of acute respiratory infections have been reported. The number of new clusters was low between Week 42 (mid-October) and Week 48 (late November). The number of reports has tended to increase since then (data not consolidated in Week 52).

  • In total, 77 ARI outbreaks were attributed exclusively to COVID-19 and 17 outbreaks were attributed exclusively to influenza (including 7 in week 50). The number of influenza episodes has exceeded the number of COVID-19 episodes since week 50. Since week 40, 5 episodes of COVID-19/influenza co-infection have been reported (including 3 in week 51). One episode attributed exclusively to RSV occurred in week 47.

COVID-19

  • Low activity.

  • The SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to circulate at low levels in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as in other regions. The proportion of cases handled by SOS Médecins and emergency departments for suspected COVID-19 remains low.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low to moderate activity.
