Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • No epidemic activity for the past 3 weeks

  • SOS Médecins activity remains steady with 9 cases per 190 visits (4.7% in Week 7 vs. 4.2% in Week 1).

  • Bronchiolitis-related activity has increased slightly, with 95 cases per 1,038 visits (9.1% vs. 7.4% in Week 1) in emergency departments.

Influenza

  • Declining epidemic

  • Flu-related activity decreased in Week 7 for SOS Médecins, with 569 cases out of 3,752 (15.2% vs. 18.0% in Week 1) (Figure 3) and in emergency departments, with 435 flu cases (2.7% of visits vs. 3.0% in Week 1).

  • In the region’s long-term care facilities, 36 clusters of influenza cases have been reported since Week 51. This etiology accounts for the majority of reported cases since Week 02-2024.

  • Since November 2023, 39 severe cases of influenza admitted to intensive care (34 influenza A, including 2 A(H1N1), 2 influenza B, and 3 unspecified) have been reported.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity

  • Activity at SOS Médecins clinics for acute gastroenteritis is decreasing, accounting for 5.2% of visits (vs. 6.4% in Week 1).

  • Emergency department activity for acute gastroenteritis is decreasing, with a visit rate of 1.4% in Week 7 (vs. 1.4% in Week 1).

COVID-19

  • Low activity

  • Confirmed case rate of 4.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 7.

  • The JN.1 variant is predominant.

  • Activity for suspected COVID-19 is low for SOS Médecins (<0.5%) and in emergency departments (<0.25%). In S07, 78.6% of visits resulted in hospitalization, primarily among those aged 65 and older.

  • In the region’s long-term care facilities, very few clusters of COVID-19 cases have been reported since the beginning of the year (between 1 and 4 per week).

  • Since October 2023, 52 severe cases of COVID-19 admitted to intensive care have been reported.
