Public Health Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Epidemiological Update as of April 5, 2012.
Key Points
As in mainland France, flu activity has been declining in Alsace for the past five weeks. According to data from the SOS Médecins associations in Strasbourg and Mulhouse, the peak of activity appears to have been reached in week 8 for the region.
The virus circulating this season is predominantly type A(H3N2), although it is antigenically different from the vaccine strain.
Following a decline in bronchiolitis activity, it appears to be stabilizing at a lower level.
Gastroenteritis activity continues in the region but is trending downward in the Bas-Rhin.
