COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of December 16, 2022

COVID-19
The regional incidence rate was 319 cases per 100,000 residents, a slight increase compared to Week 48. The testing rate followed the same trend. The positivity rate showed a decline.
The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.
Visits to primary care for “suspected COVID-19” were decreasing, while visits to emergency departments were increasing.
The number of new COVID-19-related hospitalizations remained stable. The number of new admissions to critical care units increased slightly, and the number of in-hospital deaths decreased.
The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS was on the rise.
Monkeypox
From mid-May through December 13, 2022, 2,503 confirmed cases of monkeypox were recorded in Île-de-France (region of residence). No confirmed cases were reported in S49.
