COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of September 22, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Week 37 in Île-de-France, virological indicators began to rise again.
The regional incidence rate stood at 201 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, up after a four-week period of stability. The positivity rate (13.7%) and the testing rate followed the same trend.
The BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages of the Omicron variant are predominant in Île-de-France and accounted for nearly all sequencing results.
Use of primary care and emergency services for “suspected COVID-19” was increasing.
The number of new hospitalizations was increasing, while the number of new admissions to critical care remained stable and the number of COVID-19-related hospital deaths continued to decline.
The number of new COVID-19 cases reported by healthcare facilities and the total number of new cases were increasing.
Given the ongoing circulation of SARS-CoV-2, vaccination (and booster shots) for all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with other preventive measures.
Monkeypox
As of September 19, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., 2,403 confirmed cases of monkeypox had been recorded in Île-de-France (Region of residence).
