Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Update as of January 31, 2013.

Summary

Week 04 in the Île-de-France region was primarily marked by a sharp increase in visits to community and hospital emergency departments toward the end of the week, linked to the onset of a second flu epidemic peak. Additionally, at the national level, there was an increase in the proportion of type B viruses, which became predominant. The high levels of visits reached at the end of Week 04 continued into the beginning of Week 05. All age groups were affected. Regarding outpatient care, visits also far exceeded those observed in Week 01, during the first flu epidemic peak, and those of the two previous years during the same period.Regarding severe influenza cases reported by intensive care units, as of January 30, 42 severe cases had been reported to the ARS Ile-de-France since November 1, 2012.
