Key Points

  • In the Île-de-France region, more than 2,371 emergency care visits related to heat waves were recorded during the summer (1,478 of which resulted in hospitalization), 10% of which occurred during heat waves. All age groups were affected, but people aged 75 and older were the most affected, followed by those aged 15–74.

  • Heat-related mortality in Île-de-France is estimated at 557 deaths over the entire summer (2.7% of all-cause mortality observed), including 115 deaths during heat waves (approximately 10% of all-cause mortality observed during these episodes). Nearly three-quarters of heat-related deaths involved people aged 75 and older, whether over the entire summer or during heat waves.
