In 2023, 6,393 hospitalizations due to self-harm were recorded in Normandy, representing a standardized rate of 195 hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants (+5.2% compared to 2022).
Nearly two-thirds of emergency room visits and hospitalizations involved women.
In 2021, nearly 590 suicide deaths were recorded, corresponding to a standardized rate of 18 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants (a 6.7% decrease compared to 2020). Three out of four deaths involved men.
