Heat Wave Monitoring in the Poitou-Charentes Region. Epidemiological Update as of August 18, 2012

According to Météo-France, this Saturday, the heat will intensify slightly further as it spreads toward northern and eastern France. The low temperatures recorded this morning from the southwest to the center of the country generally ranged from 18 to 24 degrees. Highs will reach 37 to 40 degrees, locally 41, from the southwest to the central-west and central parts of the country, except near the coasts and in mountainous areas. In the Poitou-Charentes region, temperatures could reach 37°C in Charente and 38°C in Vienne. Météo-France recommends maintaining an Orange alert for the Charente department. There is a slight increase in the Heat Index in the region for August 17, but it is not significant.
