HIV/AIDS

  • While the number of HIV serology tests performed per 1,000 inhabitants, after falling by 12.5% in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, rose again in 2021, it did not reach the 2019 level.

  • The number of positive test results estimated by the LaboVIH survey remained stable between 2020 and 2021 (+2%), after declining between 2019 and 2020.

  • Among those who learned of their HIV-positive status in 2021, 51% were men who have sex with men (MSM), 19% were heterosexuals born abroad, 16% were heterosexuals born in France, 1.7% were people who inject drugs, and 1.7% were transgender individuals.

  • COREVIH Occitanie active caseload: increase in the number of patients monitored and treated compared to 2020, during which a decline was observed.

Screening for bacterial STIs

  • In 2021, there was an increase in testing for Chlamydia trachomatis infections, gonococcal infections, and syphilis, following the decline resulting from the COVID-19 crisis in 2020.

  • In 2021, there was an increase in the diagnosis rate of Chlamydia trachomatis infections.

Gonococcal infections and recent syphilis

  • In 2021, an increase in diagnoses of gonococcal infections and a moderate increase in recent syphilis cases, according to the RésIST network and the CeGIDD.
