Surveillance of arboviral diseases in the Occitanie region. Epidemiological update as of September 10, 2021.

Key Points

From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France, where the vector mosquito, Aedes albopictus, is expanding its range.

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2021, 21 imported cases of dengue have been confirmed: the dengue cases were returning from Réunion (18), Djibouti (1), French Guiana (1), and Côte d’Ivoire (1).

No cases of chikungunya or Zika have been identified. To limit the risk of local transmission, 25 entomological surveys and 13 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.
