Epidemiological and virological surveillance of influenza in Réunion: July 2006–May 2007.

In Réunion, since 1996, influenza surveillance has been based on data provided by a network of private practitioners and the results of virological analyses of specimens collected by these physicians. Influenza-related clinical activity remained moderate from July 2006 to May 2007, with a slight increase in visits for influenza-like illness in July and September–October 2006. During this period, 11 influenza A viruses and one influenza B virus were isolated.
