Key Points

  • Over the past 6 weeks, there has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations.

  • Active virus outbreaks in Saint-Louis, Saint-Paul, Saint-André, Etang-Salé, and L’Entre-Deux. Isolated cases in 14 other municipalities.

  • DENV1 is the predominant serotype, followed by DENV2 and DENV-3 in Saint-André (where it is the overwhelming majority)

  • 14 imported cases in 2020 (travelers returning from Madagascar, the Comoros, and Tahiti), including 2 cases serotyped as DENV-2 (Madagascar).
