Key Points

  • The increase in the number of confirmed cases continues, combined with a rise in emergency room visits and hospitalizations, confirming the resurgence of the epidemic.

  • Clusters of cases in Saint-Louis, Saint-Paul, Saint-André, Etang-Salé, Trois-Bassins, Saint-Pierre, L’Entre-Deux, Saint-Philippe, and Sainte-Marie. Isolated cases in 14 other municipalities.

  • Unlike in 2019, in 2020, DENV1 is the predominant strain, followed by DENV2 and DENV-3 in Saint-André

  • Secondary dengue cases detected and a potential increase in the number of severe cases (CAT p.2)

  • 12 imported cases in 2020 (travelers returning from Madagascar (DENV2), the Comoros, and Tahiti).
