Health Monitoring in Réunion. Bulletin of July 4, 2025.

Key Points

Chikungunya

  • Viral transmission continues to decline, with viral circulation limited to certain municipalities and no significant impact on healthcare utilization.

Dengue

  • Last confirmed indigenous case identified in week 17 and last imported case in S23.

Leptospirosis

  • The seasonal resurgence is still ongoing. It is important to consider a diagnosis of leptospirosis to ensure prompt care (antibiotic treatment under medical supervision) and limit the risk of severe forms of the disease or even death.

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)

  • Due to the combined increases in the number of emergency room visits, subsequent hospitalizations, the positivity rate, and the activity level of sentinel physicians for influenza-like illness, Réunion is entering the pre-epidemic phase for influenza. A rapid transition to the epidemic phase is likely. For bronchiolitis, health indicators remain at their baseline levels.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Surveillance indicators in primary care and hospitals (all ages combined) are on the rise, with a low health impact.
