Health Surveillance in Réunion. Bulletin of June 5, 2025.

Key Points

Chikungunya

  • Across the entire territory, Réunion is in the decline phase of the chikungunya epidemic.

Dengue

  • Last locally acquired case in week 17. Identification of an imported case in week 22.

Leptospirosis

  • Seasonal resurgence still ongoing. Given the ongoing chikungunya epidemic, which is declining but still active across the entire island, it is important to consider a diagnosis of leptospirosis to ensure prompt treatment (antibiotic therapy under medical supervision) and limit the risk of severe illness or even death.

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)

  • Increase in health indicators for flu-like syndromes and bronchiolitis.

Gastroenteritis

  • Surveillance indicators in community practice and hospitals (all ages combined) remain at a low level with a very limited health impact.
