Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of March 9, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In the Pays de la Loire region, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation and hospital and healthcare utilization indicators remained at low levels.

  • In Week 9, virological indicators (testing rate, incidence rate, positivity rate) remained stable and at very low levels. SOS Médecins calls and emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19, as well as new hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and in-hospital deaths among patients with SARS-CoV-2, remained at low levels in Week 9.

Bronchiolitis

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been at the end of a bronchiolitis epidemic since Week 5.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been in the epidemic phase of influenza since Week 49.

  • In Week 09, the rate of calls to SOS Médecins for influenza-like illness remained stable compared to Week 08, while a decrease was observed in emergency department visits. In the region as well as nationally, viral circulation remains active, with influenza B viruses predominating.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Emergency room visits and SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis were at a moderate level of activity in week 09.
