Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of November 24, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In the Pays de la Loire region, virological and hospital indicators for COVID-19 were on the rise after several weeks of decline.

  • In Week 46, virological indicators began to rise again after four consecutive weeks of decline, with a regional incidence rate of 282 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (a 25% increase compared to Week 45) and a positivity rate of 31% (up 5 percentage points).

  • Seekings of care for suspected Covid-19 remained stable at a low level in Week 46 in the region’s emergency departments and increased slightly again within the SOS Médecins network after a temporary decline in Week 45. In the Pays de la Loire region, Covid-19 virological indicators and hospital indicators were on the rise after several weeks of decline. In hospitals, new hospitalizations and new admissions to critical care units for patients with SARS-CoV-2 were also slightly up, returning to levels close to those observed in Week 44. Deaths among hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 were stable in Week 46 and Week 45.

Influenza

  • Healthcare utilization indicators (emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls) for influenza remained at baseline levels in Week 46 in the Pays de la Loire region.

Bronchiolitis

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been in an epidemic phase for bronchiolitis since Week 41

  • In week 46, healthcare utilization (emergency room visits and SOS Médecins calls) for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age was again slightly increasing, following a brief stabilization period linked to school holidays.
