HIV Infections

  • The years 2020 and 2021, marked by the health crisis, had an impact on participation in the LaboVIH survey and the reporting of new HIV diagnoses via e-DO by clinicians and laboratory professionals.

  • The rate of new HIV diagnoses was 30 per million in the Pays de La Loire region in 2021. The proportion of people born abroad was lower in 2021 compared to previous years.

Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis

  • Screening for these three STIs conducted by the health system affiliated with health insurance increased in 2021. This upward trend has been observed since 2018 and particularly affects young women aged 25 or younger.

  • The diagnosis rate for Chlamydia trachomatis infection was 1.8 per 1,000 residents in the Pays de la Loire region in 2021, higher than the national rate of 1.7 per 1,000 people aged 15 and older.
