Key Points
#SmokeFreeMonth 2018 in the Pays de la Loire region:
More than 600 calls to 3989, a 2.5-fold increase compared to 2015 (the year before the launch of the #SmokeFreeMonth initiative),
+5% increase in activations of the Tabac info service app compared to 2017,
A slight decrease in the number of orders for materials (-4%) and kits (-5%) placed by regional partners compared to 2017,
Registration rate among daily smokers of 2.6%, the highest among regions in metropolitan France,
+52% increase in registrations compared to 2017.
Average daily consumption of:
6.5 manufactured cigarettes per day, significantly lower than that measured in metropolitan France (8.4),
5.3 hand-rolled cigarettes per day, compared to 4.4 in metropolitan France (not significantly different).
CoviPrev Survey:
In France, 27% of smokers reported that their tobacco consumption had increased after two weeks of lockdown (spring 2020).
In the region, 11.5% of deaths were attributable to smoking:
A proportion significantly lower than the estimate for France as a whole (13%),
6% among women and 17% among men, figures significantly lower than the national averages,
24% among people under 65 (premature deaths).
