  • Less than one in two deaths was certified electronically in public or private healthcare facilities (42% and 47%, respectively)

  • Electronic death certification remains underutilized in nursing homes (24%), at home (14%), and in public places (7%) and could be facilitated by connecting municipalities to the HuBEE portal

  • to measure the impact of epidemics such as COVID-19 or the flu

  • to identify unusual trends in certain causes of death
