Epidemiological Surveillance in Corsica. Update as of October 7, 2020.
Key Points
COVID-19: The incidence rate in Corsica continues to decline. It is below the threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, testing rates are also decreasing across both departments, with positivity rates falling in Southern Corsica and rising in Northern Corsica. At the same time, the number of people hospitalized, particularly in intensive care, remains high. The number of people in intensive care, combined with the upcoming vacation season—which brings increased population movement (tourism, students returning to the island, etc.)—and limited testing capacity, which can lead to fluctuating data, calls for caution regarding current trends;
Chikungunya, dengue, Zika: 6 cases of dengue reported since the start of the season (May 1).
