Key Points

COVID-19

  • Declining viral circulation.

  • Decrease in the number of patients in conventional hospital care and those admitted to critical care.

  • Decreased activity in emergency departments and for SOS Médecins associations.

  • Decrease in the number of cases in long-term care facilities.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • The heatwave in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region ended on August 10 for all departments except Vaucluse, which was under a yellow alert from August 12 to 16.

  • In S32, emergency department activity for conditions potentially related to heat remained stable (all ages and those 75 and older), but hospitalizations (all ages) following visits increased.

  • Activity by SOS Médecins associations for conditions potentially related to the heat is decreasing.

Monkeypox

  • 164 confirmed cases in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region as of August 16, 2022.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • 9 imported cases of dengue in the region: 3 from Cuba, 1 from Costa Rica, 1 from Brazil, 1 from Thailand, 1 from Réunion, 1 from Indonesia, and 1 from Côte d’Ivoire.

  • 1 case of locally acquired dengue has been identified in the Var department.
