Key Points

  • Measles resurgence since November 2017

  • Decline in the number of new weekly cases: rapid following the epidemic peak (Weeks 13–18), then stabilization with an average of 40 reported cases per week (Weeks 21–26)

  • As of July 8, 2018, 2,646 cases reported since November 6, 2017

  • 85 departments have reported at least 1 case, a number that has risen since the last bulletin

  • Since Week 13, a decrease in the number of cases in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, with no active outbreaks

  • Number of regions reporting active outbreaks has decreased since the last bulletin

  • Highest incidence among children under 1 year of age: 28.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

  • 22% of reported cases were hospitalized

  • 89% of measles cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals

  • Third death since the beginning of 2018 occurred in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in a 17-year-old immunocompromised girl
