COVID-19 in France. Update as of August 7, 2024.

Key Points

  • In Week 31, syndromic indicators continued to decline in the community and remained generally stable in hospitals. The proportion of hospitalizations following visits to the emergency room remains moderate compared to previous waves of viral circulation.

  • A decrease in virological indicators in community settings and hospitals, as well as in the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater, was observed.

  • Given the ongoing circulation of SARS-CoV-2, particularly during large gatherings this summer and in long-term care facilities, adhering to preventive measures remains an effective way to protect against respiratory infections and their complications and to limit the risk of transmission to others, especially vulnerable individuals: wearing a mask if symptoms are present and regular handwashing are therefore recommended.
