Benefits of Physical Activity for Cancer Patients: Current Evidence.

In March 2017, the National Cancer Institute (INCa) published a review of the current state of knowledge regarding the benefits of physical activity for cancer patients. This report also provides practical guidance for healthcare professionals on how to initiate or maintain physical activity during and after cancer treatment. It concludes that physical activity offers benefits in terms of: preventing or correcting physical deconditioning (reduced cardiorespiratory and muscular capacity); maintaining and/or normalizing body composition¹ (particularly the muscle-to-fat ratio); reducing cancer-related fatigue and improving overall quality of life; improving tolerance of treatments and their medium- and long-term effects; increasing life expectancy and reducing the risk of recurrence.
